Living in Florida has many perks. Right now, November 16, should be a high of 80 degrees (27 celsius). The sun shines mostly every single day. And while we have our raining season (known as Hurricane season) – it only rains in the afternoon for a brief period with the sun shining.

One of the ‘un-perks’ of course, because of the lack of temperature changing, we often don’t feel very festive like the rest of the country. It is important, at least for me, to remember what it was like growing up in the northeast of the United States for 32 years. The cold outside brought cozy warmth inside – and here in Florida, it’s just not the same. Try as we do.

For me, to achieve that cozy warmth autumn-winter feeling, is through cooking and baking for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  There are certain foods I must have this time of year that make me feel whole.

One of the recipes I always make is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Walnut Cake. It is a crowd pleaser. When my kids were smaller, I baked loaves and sent them in with their holiday gifts for their teachers. If you under bake it slightly – wow!! The recipe is here on GreyFeathers.com if you are interested in trying it for your family and friends.

I think it would be wonderful if we all contributed one recipe – maybe something that is traditional to your country or just something that your family MUST have for the upcoming holidays.
