How long have you been doing laundry? My mom taught me how to do laundry when I was ten years old. That’s like over 40 years of doing laundry… just my own. I’ve been doing someone else’s laundry since I was 23. At 26 I was doing yet another person’s laundry and by the time I was 39, I was doing laundry for six.
No lie, one day my washer died, this was when all the kids were still living at home. You can imagine how much of a back-up that would mean if I didn’t get my new washer as soon as possible.
I called one of the chain stores and asked to get their largest machine delivered that day, or the day after. I thought it was a reasonable request. I was willing to pay ANYTHING. Didn’t matter what brand, what color, I just needed it to be the largest machine they had.
The young man, sweet as he was, asked me some questions. “About how big of a machine do you need exactly?”
“Ok, so let me ask you this, how many loads of laundry to you do in a week?”
HONEY, ASK ME HOW MANY LOADS I DO IN A BLEEPING DAY.
“Ahhh, yes, you do need our largest.”
