Timeless Gratitude

In the olden days, long ago
Families traveled through sleet and snow
In covered wagons and on horseback
With quilted blankets across their laps

To see friends and family and gather close
With those whose love they’d missed the most
Pies were baked and homemade bread
A turkey from the pen, well fed

Apple cider from the cold room
Things were tidied with a broom
Best linens set upon the table
Everyone helped if they were able

A feast appeared right before their eyes
It looked so easy, no surprise
Baked with love, every bite
That family table, what a sight!

It’s nice to relive those days gone by
Nowadays, time seems to fly
We all arrive at a faster pace
To see the joy on each familiar face

Fancy appliances make it so quick
Grandma’s recipes still do the trick
Making memories, that’s the goal
And to see those smiles and grins unfold

The family table is a magical place
In this world’s crazy rat race
A place to gather with those we love
As we give thanks to God above.

No matter how you spend the day
Staying home or on your way
May gratitude be on our mind
Above all else, let’s be kind.

From our home to yours…
Happy Thanksgiving!
